The central and main street through Riga is Brivibas (Eng.:Freedom) str. It stretches from Brivibas monument down till Brivdabas (Eng.:Openair) museum, of course you can't see miles from here.

Have a ride

The closest beach by Riga is in Mangalsala. Why not to have a ride on horse? Just ask the locals.

Canal Bridge

Thousands of platforms of water surfaces playing with sun beams - reflecting from the water and illuminating the arc. In Latvian the reflection of the sun is sometimes called Saules Zaķis (Sun Hare).

A chance to take a closer look to golden rooster - the symbol of Old Riga. This one is of Dome church.

Great distance

Even from a great distance the South bridge over Daugava river is hard to fit in a frame.

Opera square at night

Another place to chill at night - Opera square with fountain. It is by the Riga canal, between Opera house and Freedom monument.

Dome square at night

Dome square with the church in the background. Those ghostly appearences in the photo are bypassing people. Drifting from bar to bar they make the feeling of busy streets at night.

Underground Riga canal

When Riga is flooded you can get the outdoor underwater scene here under the shopping centre Stockmann.

White Night 2009

This is already 4th year White Night event taking place in the streets of Riga. Various kinds of making art - music, acting, fashion and so on. Here is DJ Monsta performing together with organist Janis Pelse in Ave Sol concert hall. All activities were free of charge, even deflating (and inflating every 2 min.) statue of Lenin, representing cycle of historical equity.

"Rietumu" means West Capital Centre. That grass shouldn't be here! Really too much grass.

Skyline of Riga from city centre towards South. The trees at the front are called Vermanes park or Veramanitis which would be pronounced varmaneetys. The "a" is pronounced as in VAT or Vatican.

A fairytale house. You can't appreciate from here, but it is a bit like a pearl because it is surrounded by trashy commie blocks.

This is a tour boat on Daugava river by the Akmens bridge. What a sun bath!
