As a result of economic crash police apparently has received more power over Latvian citizens - if you don't have a journalist's license, you will be fined for taking photos of a police officer.
I was told about it from a policeman - have not seen the law.

I believe similar laws exist in other countries regarding photos of people "in service" (in fact, I know that people who work in the Armed Forces and Police here cannot use their uniforms for off-duty situations). I can't even take photos from the police school here (which has a beautiful building).
If your going to go to Goal or a Gulag, can the reason at least be a hot Latvian cop? These were very ordinary, and female!
There's nothing sexier than a woman in uniform! :-)
