Baltic Ivy (hedera helix)

This is a first evergreen ivy I found (in fact my mom noticed it) in the wild near Riga - in Jurmala. The winters can be harsh, therefore this must be very winter hardy because it has climbed some 4-5 metres above the ground.

I did some research on araucarias, and sadly, it's difficult to get them out of the country due to regulations (it is protected).

Is hedera helix used there for medicines? I know there's an expectorant here that uses extract of it.
