Relatively
I often wonder, how interesting is it, sitting hours of your life like that. Phenomenon of relatively many men sitting on relatively thin ice on relatively cool day hoping for a relatively big catch.
I have never been ice fishing and I am sure that I will never have the opportunity to go ice fishing. My wife has said that she can't think of anything worse to do. It is cold. You sit there. You don't even get to cast a fishing pole out to a spot where you think that there might be fish. You just drop the line down the hole and sit.
Some people in the northern USA (my brother lives in Minnesota, right rext to Canada) build little huts or shacks to try to be a little warm and sit inside while ice fishing. They might as well be inside their house fishing in a bathtub.
I think it must be an excuse to be able to drink and have a little "me time" away from the wife and children.
In my photos posted during the last two days, I have shown the fishing boats that we use for deep sea fishing in Costa Rica. Much different than ice fishing.
;) Im sure it must be a cold pleasure - never tried fishing with or without ice and cant see why waste a half day of our precious life doing this.. Seen the men sitting there too and also wonder about all the footsteps crossing Daugava...what a risk to save 5-10 min. walking
