70 people were shot dead and about 200 injured during peaceful demonstration by army forces in 13th of January 1905. That was the beggining of revolution. This monument is on 13th Janvara str. by the river Daugava near Railway bridge.

Chaos
On the 13th of January due to the riot in Old Riga security squads where unleashed to secure all entrances and to break apart insurgents (mainly drunk youth, who didn't even know why they really came here).Thursday, 15 January 2009
Vandalism
After smashing windows on Smilsu street in Old Town, vandals went on and took a chance to get a free drink in one of the liqueur shops.
