Banks. The art of deception.

"Financial solutions for your welfare..." This is how it translates. It is funny how a word "solutions" is used for doing the exactly the opposite - creating problems by charging the interest. The question is - these are solutions for whom exactly?

Here we continue with another piece of art on the wall - a rare advertisement from soviet times for Samara/Žiguli vehicle.

GODVIL

What happens when god and evil join their forces? Look at the screen on the wall - a night club Godvil is born - a recent addition to Riga night life industry.

The sky looks rather demonic as well.

New trolleys

In this is photo it's not just trolleys that are new. The method of advertising OLive (what ever that is) is sort of a novelty as well. The banner is put on a mobile trolley that can be moved around or parked anywhere in the city.

Piercing

his block house is as pale and boring by itself as all the others of such kind until we notice it has been punctured by a megapencil :) The pencil lights up in neon by night, and catches peoples eyes.

I'll see you @ 16:25

Located at the entrance into the old town this locally famous Laima chocolate factory clock (Laimas pulkstenis) is being a popular meet up place. During the day there are always some dozen people waiting for someone else's arrival. What the name Laima stands for? It is a personification of luck in Latvian mythology.

Staring at us

How many characters that are staring at us can you count. Its the cheeky nature of advertisements - they are overwhelming. I do not mind Giraffe, though:)

Unlucky manoeuvre

Was it a wind breeze or an unlucky manoeuvre, that rolled the advertisement trailer over towards grass lane and bumped into a lamp post. The van made a spin of almost 180 and stopped , the lamp post went down and the trailer landed back on it's wheels. This was not a set-up just to show a police car that Aigars promised before :)

Hooked on advertising

This is one example of an advert series that can be seen around in Riga. Isn't it eye catching?
No matter what the message tells, it really makes people pay attention to that dummy hanging down the rope.
