Ivy on Avotu street in Riga (Hedera Helix - efeja)

It is very rear to see Baltic Ivy in Riga so high up the wall. I guess it is because of the warmth from those two chimneys - they keep the wall warm enough for Hedera to thrive in winter.

Ivy (baltica hedera) - efeja

Another evergreen climber at a latitude 56° 56′ 56″ N. Quality of the photo is bad, because it was a quick snap while driving.

Ivy (efeja)

Another one I found in Riga - these evergreen species do not reach up too high in this climate - that's why they always fascinate me.

Ivy

At the latitude 56.97 there are not many evergreen species. I'm experimenting with Ivy. They are growing as ground cover very well, though they struggle to climb up. There are exceptions I have seen and I took some cuts and planted them in many parts of Riga. Here are couple photos of successful climbers - 1. and 2.

The one in picture I planted in November at the front of house where my Mom lives. So far doing just fine.
