Even though Riga is surrounded and divided by large masses of water (Baltic Sea, Daugava River, Kisezers, Juglas Ezers/Lake, Rigas Kanals/Canal), have many islands and it suffers from congestion its waters are not used at full capacity for transportation of goods and people.
