This banner is advertising a guy who has been involved in few corruption scandals and making so many false promises (in fairness, like most politicians).

It is election day tomorrow and I will not give my vote to anyone, so I can complain about the system. Those who vote can not complain about politicians, because they have delegated their personal power to someone else :)

On a hot day what can be cooler than a cool dive in a cool water.

Juglas canal (seen in the pic) overflows very often affecting surrounding buildings. Behind me is a very nice Šašlik Bārs (barbecue restaurant). It is called Piepe.

There was rush on gumboots few days ago.

Thousands of platforms of water surfaces playing with sun beams - reflecting from the water and illuminating the arc. In Latvian the reflection of the sun is sometimes called Saules Zaķis (Sun Hare).

When Riga is flooded you can get the outdoor underwater scene here under the shopping centre Stockmann.

Not much to comment, really, apart from that this is a heart of Riga.

There are few options to choose from if you want to stay dry on the water in Riga. They range from water bikes to ferries.

Riga is surrounded with water and many birds love it. With warmer winters some birds "forget" to head south in autumn, but they can be hurt if winter is coder than it has been lately.

Centre House (Centra nams) and "Silage" Tower

One reason why the highest tower on the right is called a "silage tower" (Skābbarības Tornis) is because Ministry of Agriculture is located there. The building on the right has a nick name too - a Kettle... and that is despite the efforts of the architect to give it a shape of the ship:)

Even though Riga is surrounded and divided by large masses of water (Baltic Sea, Daugava River, Kisezers, Juglas Ezers/Lake, Rigas Kanals/Canal), have many islands and it suffers from congestion its waters are not used at full capacity for transportation of goods and people. It is in its very early development stage and hopefully will become something more than a leisure activity.
