Riga 3D

Another day I went to the exhibition "The process of good architecture" where I found physical 3D model of Riga present, under construction (u/c) and planned buildings and structures. The blue ones are either planned, approved or u/c on left bank of river Daugava - locally called Pārdaugava.

Hi Aigars,

I have to appoint you (unofficially) to be my eyes in Riga.

Especially since I never being to Riga (which I plan to one of these days) I am 'discoverying' Latvia through your website.

I read that the Latvian National Library (the triangle/pyramid-like building on the left of this photo) is also known as "the castle of light". It is really impressive and thoughtful building (I googled it up). When will it be built/finish?

I eagerly look forward to the next Riga photo. Please 'snap' on...

The answer to your question might interest others as well - National Library will be finished by 2012. The plot is being prepared for construction which will begin this year or at the beginning of next year. Here is official link:
