Gas station

In Latvia a "gas station", unlike in some English speaking countries, is where you get natural gas (gāze) - not petrol or diesel.

Kipsala (Ķīpsala)

Looks like greenhouses, but I am sure they are not - must be part of the underground car park.

Riga Hihg Rise district

What currently looks like abandoned island (Kipsala) in 10-15 years time will be modern highrise district. There are currently 3 towers under construction in this area (Z-Towers and Da Vinci - you can see the cranes) and there are two more approved (Riverside Plaza and Elipse) and few more on the paper. It will take some time to get the rest of them erected because of the investments in infrastructure are badly needed.

Baltic Boat and Motorcycle Show

Last weekend there were two exhibitions in Kipsala international exhibition centre. Baltic Boat Show together with Motorcycle 2008. This particular hall is for yachts, boats and marine recreational vehicles, so to speak. The super fast motor boat was presented as well. They say that half a million dollars worthy boat has found customers in Baltics already five or six times.

Riga 3D

Another day I went to the exhibition "The process of good architecture" where I found physical 3D model of Riga present, under construction (u/c) and planned buildings and structures. The blue ones are either planned, approved or u/c on left bank of river Daugava - locally called Pārdaugava.

Restaurant

In yesterday's post I mentioned the restaurant by the riverside, but today I thought, that there are people, who might be curious of what it looks like. Well here I found one photo of that place. The "Fabrikas restorans" is on the corner.

Former factory

On the left bank of the river Daugava is a former factory, that has been reconstructed and renovated into residential complex. In the photo you can see the inner yard with a chimney, that marks "Gipsa fabrika" in a landscape and helps people find their home even from a long distance :) By the way, there is a wonderful restaurant by the riverside.
