Riga highrises from a distance. To get all this in the view I had to go to Bolderaja, a suburb region close to Riga bay.

Riga in 2018

This is a visualisation of Future Riga (not by me). The low-rise black building in the centre is politically controversial model of winer design and my favorite vision of Riga Concert Hall. Half of the high rises at the back are either approved, built or under construction. Rest of them are going to be built at some time in the future...hopefully:)

The grass covered area is a former greenhouse site which will be converted over next 5 years into a massive residential housing blocks.

I took this picture while having a lovely meal up in the air some time ago. The place is called Riga Central Station Tower - Neo Bar.

Trains

I am sure we have not posted pictures of trains in Riga. This is one that was recently renovated, though the fleet will get replacement in the upcoming years.

Taken by Karlis - another rising cluster of higrises is erecting in Imanta - at the left bank of the river Daugava (in the picture the distant one across the river). Mainly residential.

It started raining. On the edge.

Bit blurry, sorry. Will do better tomorrow:) We were chillin' out on the hotel's top floor lounge with friends. I used this gap when rain stopped to capture the city from up above. And then it started to pour water again after 15 minutes. The tall building is Reval Hotel Latvia with its lovelly Sky Bar

To get to the place where this picture was taken from (I'll post it tomorrow) took a lot of courage and wouldn't be possible without the help of my friend Karlis who insured his camera is providing the quality of this image.

Rika (Rīga)

This is what it's all about, finally I share the whole picture of this fabulous city.
There is a bank-high rise on the left bank of river Daugava, it marks a new part of Riga and reflects a beautiful sunset, which means, that night life on the other side of Daugava can begin. That is Vecriga (Old Riga), 800+ years - this city has lots to tell and hide, give and take...

Looking down at all the mess from the Fourth Floor.

I am so sorry I missed out the theme day ("picture of another city") of the Daily Photo community. Now, I am making it up and posting a picture of Edinburgh "skyline". I took it last summer from a bar called Forth Floor. As the name suggests it is on the fourth floor. The taxi driver took me there and told me it is the highest one in the city. Not that high, is it? I am sure there must a proper Sky Bar. Nevertheless the view on Edinburgh Castle was spot on.
