South Bridge extension (despite EVERYTHING - crisis, enormous cost, controversy...) keeps making its way through what used to be an air space.

Great distance

Even from a great distance the South bridge over Daugava river is hard to fit in a frame.

Sound proof

This is one thing you can see very often in Western Europe - sound proof walls on roads to prevent noise pollution. In Latvia I have seen them so far only on recently built South Bridge.

Our South bridge, that is famous for its enormous expenses and foulty outcome. It should be more even and allow more than 70km/h.

Ease the traffic

The new South bridge from Pardaugava side, hopefully it will ease the traffic connecting both parts of Riga.

Get over it

Tonight South bridge over the river Daugava was opened for the public. The bridge itself is not as impressive as the connecting estacades. Click on the post title to check out more. In general it looks nice, but there are segments that really are uneven, not to mention that the costs have reached seventh heaven, and that has led to frustrated discussions between press and builders.

Riga South Bridge

The first part of (there are three parts all together) the largest infrastructure object under construction in Baltic States is approaching its opening in November. It will have the first multilevel spaghetti junction in Baltics as well.

Not ready yet

The largest infrastructure project under construction in Baltics - South Bridge. Exit and entry connections are already set up, this is the right bank of the river Daugava, Krasta street by the old bridge called "Stahanchick" over the railroad.
