Reval
Skyline of Riga from city centre towards South. The trees at the front are called Vermanes park or Veramanitis which would be pronounced varmaneetys. The "a" is pronounced as in VAT or Vatican.

Isle of hares
On the height of almost 100 metres from TV tower on Zaku island we can clearly see the centre of Riga and the old town. It is settled on the right bank of the river Daugava. There are four bridges that can be hardly seen on the photo and the fifth one behind the scene that is still being built. Starting from it - Dienvidu bridge, Salu bridge, Railroad bridge, Akmens bridge and Vansu bridge. Old Riga is among the last three.Saturday, 15 September 2007

Salu bridge
The latvian name of the bridge is "Salu tilts" and means island bridge, cause it's middle acually is based on the "isle of hares" - "Zaķu sala" where TV tower and the television building are located, then the bridge "jumps" over the other half of the river Daugava. The TV building is on the other end of isle, therefore is not visible in the photo.Tuesday, 5 June 2007
The moon was rising. The sky was bright.
Since we started talking about spires, this 368m high TV tower is worth seeing. Strategically important for media broadcasting in Latvia it is the third highest in Europe. At 97m height there is a level open for visitors. Saturday, 2 June 2007
