Dome square at night

Dome square with the church in the background. Those ghostly appearences in the photo are bypassing people. Drifting from bar to bar they make the feeling of busy streets at night.

Divine art (Chiekurkalns)

The building is covered in coloured and grey small stones. It is a church. I have been in it some 15 years ago. It was the time when I had many questions about god, religion and spirituality. I was in my teens and thought... I had impression that someone has got the answers. I like the design anyway.
Click on the picture (then click All sizes) to enlarge to appreciate the details.

All Saints

An Orthodox church of all Saints, that was built in 1815 near one of the oldest cemetery in Riga. Weird, but the address is Katolu str. 10 (Catholic str.)

The Small butcher's str.

Not all the buildings are renovated in Old Riga, and not all the people come to have fun here.
By the way, that is St. Jacob’s Catholic church in the background, if you ask.

Church (Kas patiesībā noteik baznīcā)

The board translates - "What is really going on in Church?". I have a partial answer to that question. I know what sometimes goes on in Religious movements:)

Luther Church

Lutheran Luther Church in Tornkalns. Not that I like crusaders very much:), but it is one of the highest buildings in Pardaugava (Left Coast of Duagava).

Birds

This Orthodox Church facade is kept and maintained to look spectacular at all times. It is no surprise though because it is in the Riga city centre, but it was not always like that (the good looks). Under Soviet regime 60 Orthodox churches were closed down and they were not looked after.

Follow the golden rooster

A scene from Old Riga near Dome square. The golden rooster on top of the Dome church tower may lead your way through the old town, if you know which particular golden rooster you are following. This is not the only one :)

Face

If you look closely at the sculpture in the middle of a photo you will spot a small face. Can you see it?

An Anglican church

Yesterday there was a nice Christmas time concert performed by choir Daugavina in Anglican church. I took the picture right after the last spectator left to show you the inside-welcome for everyone, every time.

Livu square

Livu square is one of the most popular place to chill out in open-air beer gardens or in other words-relax after an Old Riga tour and have some Latvian or other probably the best beer in the world :) Anyway this is a place in Old Riga that is surrounded by entertainment industry-theatre, pubs, hotels and banks, restaurants, casinos, clubs and even concert halls. By the way, the spire is St. Peters church tower with a rooster on the top.
