Riga skyline

I always wanted to make a photo from this unusual spot - it gathers in one frame three distinct areas - Kipsala (Ķīpsala) isaland with its Swedbank highrise, St. Peter's Church in the Old Town and Central Train Station with its land mark - Riga Clock and Sky Bar (taken in the April).

Shadowlines

Even during afternoon the Sun is close to horizon. Notice the angle of shadowlines on Akmens bridge base.

Riga Skyline

Not a common view towards Old Riga marked by St. Peter's church, except if you are passing by train towards Daugava river or just climbed up the railway embankment.

How free are we?

Two landmarks and symbols of Riga - Freedom Statue and St Peter's Church. Freedom Statue really translates from Latvian as Freedom Monument, but I refuse to accept that our freedom is gone. Why gone? Because the word "monument" implies that our freedom is commemorated.

The highest spire in Riga

The heart of Old Riga at midnight is definitely worth visiting. This is St. Peter's church, the highest spire in Riga with a rooster on the top. The photo is taken from an inner yard of a living block, to show the church from a different viewpoint.

City musicians of Bremen

One of my favourite buildings in Riga Old city is St. Peter's church. This photo is taken from behind of it, and the reason is to show you the monument for city musicians of Bremen. You can see it on the right side.

St. Peters church

It is so big, I cannot get it whole inside the frame. On the top of the spire you might recognize a bird - rooster. It is of a size of pony and shines like gold. Builders who install it have had tradition, after fixing it on the top to drink a glass of champagne sitting on top like a rider.

I would love to have one beer up there once. :)
