In the middle of 19th century this market place was outside city's administrative territory. Merchants traded firewood, hay, horses and other fiddle-faddle here, avoiding dues. History should repeat itself.

Berga Bazārs


Two of many entrances into the block which is named strangely - instead of being called tirgus (market in Latvian) it is called bazar (market in Russian). The meaning is still valid - every fourth Saturday of month there is a Green Market - only Organic Farmers allowed.
