Chomsky Bar in Riga

In honour of Avram Noam Chomsky - linguist, philosopher, cognitive scientist, and activist, a new bar on Lāčplēša street near Avotu street was opened last month.

Tradition

Novus is a game invented in Latvia. Nowadays not very popular due to aggressive marketing of pool. One public place you can still play it is the club/bar PIENS.

Albert Hotel

Angel - from Greek. angelos "messenger," possibly related to angaros "mounted courier." Perhaps related to Sanskrit word ajira- "swift."

Double Coffee

It is a name of a coffee shop chain - I guess the most recognised by locals. This one is on the corner of Brīvības and Stabu street.

A wooden foot-bridge. The people you see there are having a wedding party.

Piens - Milk - the night club

Say "No" to the credit cards.

If it is too loud, you are too old.

This is one of the recent additions to night club scenery of Riga.

Work hard when economy is growing, relax when it is collapsing - there is nothing you can do anyway.

Related to colour

"Sarkans" means "Red" in English. This is a well known bar and restaurant in Stabu str. The colour of those two cars actually was that drew my attention this time to take a photo.

AFRO BRAZILIAN DRUMS

Tonight AFRO BRAZILIAN DRUMS were performing in the bar "Kapteina Enriko pulkstenis" (Captain's Enrico watch). In a friendly atmosphere they warmed up spectators with a Jam session. Very groovy!

Arizona in Riga

No, this is not United States, its just a Grill Bar on Valdemara Street with foreign theme. Have they created the Arizona atmosphere? I do not know, haven't been there, but if you have, feel free to give your evaluation:)

Friday night fun

Saturdays night out with friends ended in a bar M6. When it was hard to focus on the people by the counter I decided, it is time to go home :)
They serve with a good attitude, but the atmosphere depends on music as well, so when they change the style from 60ies to heavy metal or something else, you might suddenly feel impressed or dissapointed.

On Aldaru street right behind the Swedish gates can be found such a lovely bar, oh if you only knew...

Safari

Despite very unsuitable weather conditions elephants are animals that live in Riga ...coffee shops. The Coffee Nation chain is one of nicest in the City and it was surprisingly quite for the weekday morning.

Radio bar

It's a lighter in her hands, so she can set the B52's on fire. To drink this without burning your nose, you will need one of those red straws. But be quick, the straw will melt in no time.
P.S. That remote on her waist is a panic button for alerting security.

The edge of Old Riga

Although this particular building doesn't represent the Old Riga, it is located on the very edge of the old town. The Railway bridge is behind the scene, but river Daugava on the left.

Albert Sky Bar

This is an interior of Albert Hotel Sky Bar. The bar is not as huge as in Reval Latvia ,though it offers alternative cityscape, open terrace and more relaxed atmosphere. What do you think of the painting?
