All sorts of alternative movements are alowed to happen in Andrejsala. It is not busy busy, but it is different form other parts of Riga.

Hooked on Andrejsala

Andrejsala is still attracting lots of young people, even without any organized activities. They come here to talk, have some "bring-along beverage" and watch the sunset lighting the distant city.

Archer

It is not like archery is very popular in Latvia, but I am entirely sure that shooting darts at your lunch break is a lot of fun and good stress relief. But even in the hands of professional archer, is it safe? Nevertheless, no other place in Riga centre would be more suitable for it than Riga SOHO-wannabe - Andrejsala.

Hooked on

An example of a true friendship :) They both look hooked on something very interesting. This was captured in Andrejsala near Riga passanger port.

Volga

There are few graffiti in Riga that are already familiar to the locals, like this face. It can be seen on many walls already. Now I spotted one in Andrejsala as well. As an addition you can see the old russian Volga, it was a very popular car in soviet times.

Bite me!

Someone is trying hard to feel comfortable in the "functional design object". This bench was made by a contest "Creative sitting in Andrejsala" winner Damien Spies.

Andrejsala

This is a view from Kipsala on Riga Passenger Terminal - you can see Tallink Ferry departing to Stockholm and just behind it is Andrejsala with its alternative subculture that has been reported earlier here, here, here and here.

Wind rider

A windy cold weather is a fine environment for gulls here in Andrejsala. I hope they feel lucky about it. My fingers froze while I was taking this picture. Luckily to me the gull flew off only right AFTER the shutter closed. The huge old tyres are used as a bumper between dock wall and ship's side.

Inspiration

Some time ago in Andrejsala I found this strange "painting" done with a black marker. The author surely had an inspiration, and so do I. Although my result was just a snap away.

Arriving yacht

I had nothing else to do, so I went to Andrejsala again to capture this arriving yacht. The whole scene reminds me of coffee with cream :)

Coloured objects

So, from the yesterdays point of view, that is captains view point :) I noticed these coloured objects - buoys. They have been renovated I suppose and will be immersed in water some time again. If you click on the post title, it will lead you to one older post with buoy "at work".

Today I have one more photo of Andrejsala. This one is taken from the fly-bridge of an old ship docked to the far end of a breakwater of Andrejsala. The river Daugava is on the right and the view is towards Riga centre.

Since this unknown lady didn't mind to pose for me, I thought this is a perfect spot to immortalize other photographers making photos simultainously with me, making us three all together.

Soulmate in red sox

This thin creature lives in Andrejsala and suffers from unfinished sympathy to seagulls and obvious heartaches. It always tries to hide around a corner of this barn, yet I fooled him and made this shot. :) Unfortunately I do not know the creator of this appealing cardboard figure, cause I would like to thank him for feeding my subconsciousness. By the way, it kinda looks suspicious, doesn't it?

Riga passenger port

There is a boat dock behind the Riga passenger port as well and Andrejsala is right next to it.

Young people use to come here to spend some time, watch sunsets, have some beers and enjoy each others company.

And by the way, any type of jeans + tops are very popular in summer. It is nice :)
