Sunday flags

Its quiet, its raining... few snow flakes falling and melting creating reflective surface on empty streets. This is Skolas (school) street.

The flags hanging off facades are to remind us of people who suffered from the genocide of communistic regime towards Latvian nation (Pret Latvijas tautu vērstā totalitārā komunistiskā režīma genocīda upuru piemiņas diena).

Riga wooden architecture

Grizinkalns is the area in the city centre that has many wooden 2 storey buildings. Many facades are being renovated (not this one) adding a colour to the autumn greyness.

Riga connection

For those who does not understand Latvian language - the red letters at the top saying "Brivibu" mean "freedom". Can you guess what is the following word hidden behind umbrella.

Post Box

I like simple, lasting and functional designs like this one - it has not forgot the most important person in the delivery chain. It is so much easier for a postman to deposit his parcel on the street rather than enter the apartment house.

Valdemara street framed

I don't know if both golden picture frames in the window are about to stay as they are or pictures will be placed in it (I suspect they will be left empty), but it provided another perspective on things around me.

Antonias Street in Riga is place of interesting restaurants and cafés. Flying Frog is not exception...if not for anything else but name

Riga Marketing

This is one of tens of controversial graffiti ads that appeared on streets of Riga overnight. The company representing the brand claims it has nothing to do with this attempt to draw attention. Its has worked in a sense that more people know about it - however, many have commented that they will ignore the product because of what they consider "dirty" marketing trick.

Busy street

Busy street of Riga in the middle of the working day. It is a corner of A. Caka and Matisa streets.

Overheated

I suppose this is the first sign of upcoming spring in Latvia. I have heard that in other countries snowdrops appear and birds start singing when the winter is over. :)

An angel

These signs in the streets of Riga are for educational purposes. It says: "Hey, pedestrian, without a reflector You'll be an angel!"
