Dole shopping centre (on the left) marks the end of dense urban settlements. After that there is a long stretch of industrial units, garden plots and small households.

Returning from vacation

AirBaltic returning to Riga airport. Jet engines with fuselage have always reminded me of a sad smiley - :( in the sky, meaning "Returning from vacation".

Birds over Riga Central Market

Reminds me one Hitchcock movie. Doesn't it? Riga Central Market must be providing most of the foodstuff for them I reckon.

Riga sky

Autumn brings in visual changes not only in flora but in skies above us as well - we are getting lower clouds and they are becoming darker.

Riga blue cloud

That cloud at the top came out really odd, I can not remember seeing it that blue when taking a pic - I noticed the effect at home. May be that blue cloud was there and I just did not see it because I made a photo while driving in the car.

Post Box

I like simple, lasting and functional designs like this one - it has not forgot the most important person in the delivery chain. It is so much easier for a postman to deposit his parcel on the street rather than enter the apartment house.

Intentions

I was making a picture of a building but the pigeon flying through came out as more interesting subject.

Jugla

Jugla is one of the neighborhoods (micro regions - mikrorajoni in Latvian). It starts off on Brivibas boulevard with couple of mid-rises that have magnificent views from top floors over the Shmerlis (Smerlis) forest.

Awake

We had a small party a day ago just at the edge of a city. Just a small reflection of what was the ambience like.

...reflection. I am kinda stuck with them permanently. This was done in rain against the bonnet of black Toyota on Dzirnavu street.

The brightest one in a middle with unspeakable stillness.

This is Riga Gulf in Riga resort city Jurmala (seaside). Amazingly calm today - never seen it like that. Quite a lot people were swimming, some of them sun bathing or playing volley. I didn't turn the camera on them I just walked along the shore occasionally jumping in and out of the water watching waves spreading towards the sun beams.

The early morning picture of this beautiful dawn in Riga was taken by very good friend of mine Karlis (Beinerts). He spotted the glorious scenery on his way home when driving across Salu Tilts (Islet Bridge). No doubt he is very talented photographer.
