Miles from here

The central and main street through Riga is Brivibas (Eng.:Freedom) str. It stretches from Brivibas monument down till Brivdabas (Eng.:Openair) museum, of course you can't see miles from here.

Riga Gulff

There is one place in the city centre open to the public, where you can actually see the narrow strip of the Baltic Sea. In Summer time it is just about where the sun settles its way over the horizon.

Brivibas and Gertrudes corner

This is very long if not longest central street in Riga - Brīvības (Freedom) boulevard at its beginning. The high rise at far end is a Reval Hotel Latvia with amazing sky bar at the top floor.

Sunset over Riga Old Town

Reval Latvia Sky Bar is one of the best places to start with when visiting Riga for the first time. You'll get the sense of the size of the city and the location of main land marks.

Hotel Reval Elizabete

New hotel was opened this year on Elizabetes Street in Riga - "Reval Hotel Elizabete". There is another hotel called "Elizabete" on Dzirnavu street with a restaurant on the 4th floor. I went there few days ago with my friends for a hot chocolate. I spoke withe the waiter working there - he said that naming the new Reval hotel "Elizabete" has caused a lot of confusion to guests arriving because it is easy to mix them up.

Reval Hotel

Reval Latvia Hotel from Terbatas and Elizabetes street junction. On the right there is cinema "Riga" currently being renovated. When opened in 1923 it was known as “Splendid Palace”. It was the first sound reproducing cinema in Baltics. The exterior and interior is something you must see...and you will... a bit later.

- How are we going to check out?, - the last guest was asking.

This hotel is located close to the old town and I work here five days a week. The facade of the building is changing colour every 20 seconds or so going through red-blue-purple cycle though on weekends only. The Reval (now Radisson BLU) SKY BAR is on the 26th floor - it is very popular amongst locals and visitors - totally overcrowded on weekends.
